It never rains but it pours: I’m returning to Venezuela, between July 1-18, to lead the orchestra for the multi-state seminario taking place in Acarigua-Araure, the site of afore-mentioned performance of Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture. I’m returning at the behest of Roberto Zambrano, the núcleo director for Acarigua and a major force for el Sistema in the region as a whole. Top young musicians from the states of Lara, Barinas and Portuguesa will be participating as we work through Beethoven Symphony No. 5 and other repertoire over the two weeks of the program. Thanks for the invitation, Roberto, I can’t wait to be back.
I will actually be there as well! I look forward to meeting you. Check out my blog at http://www.soundscapeshr.org/blog.
